Dr. Bronner, five generations of natural soap making!

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”4951″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]And just like there is a Lilly, yes there also was a Dr. Bronner. Emanuel Theodore Bronner was born in 1908 into a family of three generations of master soap makers. He emigrated from Germany to California in 1929. Of Jewish origin, he tried unsuccessfully to persuade his family to leave Germany before the rise of Hitler. They didn’t and perished in the holocaust.

Subsequently he became a moral philosopher and promoted his All One God Faith and his Moral ABC. The central tenet of his belief was the goodness and unity of humanity ( surely a worthwhile starting point for any philosophy!) He continued to make liquid Castile ( vegetable oil based ) soaps using the labels as a vehicle for his philosophical beliefs and this is why the products still bear the same ( idiosyncratic from a modern marketing perspective ) labels to this day ( happy reading in the shower!)

So much for the story ! What’s in the bottles ? All ingredients are 100% natural and free of petrochemicals, the ingredients are fairly traded and organic where possible. So again we see the same ethos that informs Lilly’s cleaning products, respect for the planet and its population, respect for ourselves ![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The liquid soaps are touted as multi use products with their proposed 18 in 1 ( and probably many more ! ) uses. According to their own literature “You can use Dr Bronners soaps for washing your face, body, hands and hair, for bathing, shaving, brushing your teeth, rinsing fruit, aromatherapy, washing dishes by hand, doing laundry, mopping floors, all-purpose cleaning, washing windows, scrubbing toilets, washing dogs, controlling dust mites, and killing ants and aphids. Now, that’s eighteen uses right there, but customers have told us over time about many more uses they have found for our soaps.”

Having read the list I think I’ve been a bit conservative, having gone no further than washing my hair and body with them but I can truly say that doing so has always been a pleasure. I adore the great scents ( derived from pure essential oils ) from peppermint when I want to wake up in the morning to lavender when I want the opposite last thing and including rose, citrus, green tea and others on the way, I really think they’re heavenly. On top of the liquid soaps we also stock their solid soap bars , their luxury Shakaki Pump soaps and have just taken on their lip balms and their brand new toothpastes in anise, cinnamon and peppermint.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text]Throw in the company’s impeccable ‘green’ credentials and their high value on the communities they work with and their own workforce and I’m sold. Try them and I think you will be too! We’ll have a representative from Dr. Bronner’s instore with us on 17th June. Call in if you’d like to find out more about these multi-use products. We also have 20% this entire range for the month of June.
