Belinda Kehoe2If you were keeping up with #Kickstart16 you’ll know that Belinda was one of the four experts who’s invaluable advice helped the participants with different aspects of their program. Belinda’s forte is natural skincare and beauty but, unlike many others who offer this service, her approach is always holistic. She rightly sees skin health as a reflection of general health and, as she says herself, more often than not a reflection of a person’s digestion. Apart from this I’ve come to know Belinda as a customer over the years and can personally vouch for her depth of knowledge in many areas of holistic health care, from nutrition and acupuncture to Ayurveda.
So if you have skin problems and would like to be treated by someone with a truly holistic approach or even if you just fancy a nice relaxing facial we heartily recommend the Wexford Skin Clinic. Here’s Belinda’s own description of how she works :

Hello fellow healthies!

My name is Belinda and I am the therapist behind Wexford Skin Clinic! So what kind of therapist am I? In 1997, I qualified as a beauty therapist and from early in my career I realised that my main love was the skin and wellbeing of my clients.

Our skin is a reflection of what is going on within our body, what we’re eating, quality of our sleep and how we’re feeling emotionally! In order to really treat the skin you need to treat within so in 2007, I embarked on a 5-year Acupuncture and Naturopathy course with the College of Naturopathic Medicine in Dublin.
Acupunture picBeing an acupuncturist and naturopath enables me to look at the skin as a part of the body as opposed to a separate entity. I find that the gut plays a huge role in the health of the skin. Many people come through my door with inflammatory skin diseases such as rosacea, acne, eczema and psoriasis and the gut is the first place I look to. I do the Fitzwilliam Food Test, which is a laboratory test to determine which foods clients are not digesting properly which in turn will cause inflammatory responses within the skin. I then also send my clients to Only Natural for the supplements necessary to heal their digestion!
Chinese medicine is another invaluable tool for treating the skin, for example, dark circles under the eyes can be a sign that the liver is a little strained…. As well as prescribing the use of Milk Thistle, I do acupuncture on my clients to promote the healthy flow of Qi (energy) to balance the liver’s energy.
Emotions also play a huge role in how our skin presents itself… So while skincare and diet are important parts of treating the skin, we need to take a holistic view to really get results!
Last but by no means least are our skincare products!!! Wexford Skin Clinic is the first clinic in Co. Wexford to work with Image Skincare. Image Skincare uses organic ingredients with medical effectiveness. Image contains no parabens or petrochemicals and is not tested on animals. In my 19 years in the skincare industry, this product is above and beyond any skincare I’ve had the privilege to work with before!!
Thank you for reading my little piece and who knows, maybe I’ll welcome you into Wexford Skin Clinic very soon!
