Holistic health imageNuala Sammon RGN Dip AK is a Systematic Kinesiologist whom I went to visit in her own home a few miles outside Enniscorthy in late January. Her background is interesting in that Nuala is both a highly specialised nurse in a Dublin hospital as well being an alternative practitioner. For me at least the obvious passion and integrity that Nuala brings equally to both aspects of her therapeutic life give me great confidence in her motivations. Nuala’s primary diagnostic tool is that of muscle testing, a non invasive method of determining both the current level of function of the bodily systems and the appropriateness of specific remedies for patients. Working with her observations based on muscle testing Nuala recommends both nutritional supplements for their effects on the physical level and vibrational, energetic remedies such as Australian Bush Flower remedies for their emotional and spiritual healing properties.

According to the website of the Association of Systematic Kinesiology in Ireland, of which both Nuala and Finola Foley who practices in Fethard on Sea and who was our featured therapist a few months ago are members

“Systematic Kinesiology can help with more than 80% of all the health problems that most people put up with, either because it isn’t bad enough to go to the doctor, or because they have sought help but received no relief.

Almost everyone you know suffers from some sort of discomfort as a result of stress. As many as 50% of people suffer from back ache at one time or another, almost everyone gets colds or the flu.  Just feeling unwell, or a bit tired, seems almost to be the norm.

It need not be! Systematic Kinesiology can help you balance your body’s systems, and enjoy a level of health and well-being you may not have experienced since you were a child.”

kinesiology imageKinesiology offers gentle and effective treatments for many health problems such as Headaches, Food Intolerances, Digestive Problems, Bloating, Neck & Shoulder Problems, Sinusitis, Pain, Sleep Problems, Learning Difficulties, Reflux, Fatigue, Anxiety, Fears & Phobias and Vertigo.

Here’s Nuala’s own take on what she offers:

I qualified as an Registered General Nurse (RGN) in 1995. I moved into the Specialist area of Renal Medicine where I trained in St Mary’s Hospital Paddington London and Ealing University. I then returned to Ireland and continued my career in Renal Specialist Medicine where I still work part time and enjoy very much.
My interest in Kinesiology began in 2007 when after suffering for many years with huge digestion problems- daily reflux, indigestion, headaches, bloating, constant fatigue and gallstones with no improvement from any treatments I undertook. I had heard about kinesiology but I knew nothing about it. I made contact with a Kinesiologist and I began receiving Kinesiology treatment.

To say Kinesiology has transformed my life is a complete understatement. Over a short period of time all of my symptoms were relieved and I began to feel well again. After a few months all of my symptoms were a distant memory and have never returned. I made some dietary changes, and took nutritional supplements recommended along with Bush Flower essences. I continued attending my Kinesiologist in Kildare and began recommending the treatment to family members and friends.Healing-flower-essence

When I returned to live in Wexford in 2010 I got the opportunity to do a basic Kinesiology course which I was very interested in after receiving such great results myself. In less than one hour in the class room I knew that this was something I would love to continue to study and learn more about. After doing my foundation course I completed my two year diploma in Systematic Kinesiology. Since graduating I have continued to study Homeotherapy, Biochemistry, and Flower essences.
Kinesiology works for everybody from small new born babies to the elderly. The feedback from clients is always positive. Systematic Kinesiology works using the body’s own biofeedback system through muscle testing to discover the root causes of the problem and identify the necessary treatment. You lie on the plinth fully clothed where muscles- arms and legs are gently tested. Each treatment lasts about an hour.

It is used to treat many common health problems. Some examples of these conditions are- digestive, irritable bowel, backache, low energy, fatigue, stress, anxiety, panic attacks, food testing, muscle pain, skin conditions, hyperactivity in children, headaches/migraines, and sinus problems. The Kinesiologist uses a variety of treatment to rectify the imbalances. These treatments may include massage of specific lymphatic reflexes, nutritional supplements, dietary advice as certain foods may show to be intolerant, making lifestyle changes and often flower essences for emotional issues. Kinesiology is a truly unique treatment as it looks at 4 key areas of the body – Energy, structure, nutrition and emotion to enable recovery. I am a member of the Association of Systematic Kinesiology (ASK) in Ireland.
