World Osteoporosis Day is happening on 20th October and Claire from our most popular magnesium supplement MAG365 came to pay us a visit and reminded us that their range of products does not stop at magnesium! Claire has very kindly penned the below blog for us focusing on their bone products.
What Is Osteoporosis?
Osteoporosis is a very common condition in Ireland, it is a ‘thinning’ of the bones and is a disease that manifests itself in childhood. However it often doesn’t become an issue until later in life when we become more aware of our bone density and maybe Osteopenia is a concern.
“The state of men’s health is in crisis. Men experience worse longer-term health than women and die on average six years earlier. Prostate cancer rates will double in the next 15 years. Testicular cancer rates have already doubled in the last 50. Three quarters of suicides are men. Poor mental health leads to half a million men taking their own life every year. That’s one every minute.“
Holly from one of our favourite supplement brands, Viridian, will be instore with us on Wednesday 12th October discussing the many many benefits of Vitamin D – immunity, teeth, bone, hormone health are just for starters!
We have recently stocked the full range of Viridian’s Vitamin D and they are also on special offer for the month of October with 25% off the RSP. So now really is a good time to ready for winter!e
In my opinion Vitamin D3 is one of the most important nutrients, especially in winter. In fact the UK Government advises that people who are housebound or cover their skin for long periods, all pregnant and breastfeeding women, people over 65 years of age and infants from 6 months to aged 5 should take vitamin D supplements. While we can get some vitamin D from dietary sources such as fish, cheese, eggs and fortified foods, we mostly make it through sun exposure (and opportunity can be limited in Ireland). As we get almost no sun exposure in winter, supplementation is the only way to go. Apart completely from its role in maintaining good bone and muscle health it can be particularly beneficial in winter for two reasons.
And for the month of October we are offering 25% off the Viridian Vitamin D range which make them even better value!

As Irish students have just finished the mock exams and start the final push in preparation for the real thing it’s timely that Irish Company Galway Natural Health, the makers of Revive Active and Revive Active Joint, has just introduced its newest offering to the Irish Market. The new formula is aimed at providing key nutrients for mental performance and is called Mastermind. It’s aimed at both an older demographic keen to use natural supplements to keep the mind sharp and students seeking the same benefits for optimal study and exam performance.
Here are the supplement’s ingredients and their roles:
Seniors – If preventative 1 sachet daily. If are starting to suffer from memory and cognitive deterioration, than can take 2 sachets daily (separately for the best effect).
Parents & Professionals – 1 sachet daily.
Students – 15 and up 1 sachet daily. Under 15 ½ sachet daily. Probably not necessary or needed for under 13.
Synapses – When you hear synapses, just think Brain Connections and Memories.
