We’re bringing Dale Pinnock to Wexford

Dale Pinnock, UK celebrity chef, author and nutritionist has just updated and republished The Clear Skin Cookbook first brought out in 2012 and, in partnership with Viridian Nutrition, we’re delighted to be hosting Dale for a cookery demo highlighting the do’s and dont’s of his unique 60 day clear skin program on the 20th of August. There’s a bit of time to go yet so watch this space and final details of the event and how you can be there will be in our August newsletter. The program is a nutritional, supplemental and lifestyle guide for anyone suffering from skin issues like acne, eczema and psoriasis. We currently have copies of the book to give away in Only Natural (Ts & Cs apply, purchase necessary) and this month’s recipe is a small taster of how following Dale’s plan certainly needn’t be about self denial! We are really enjoying our coffee mornings here at Only Natural and hope that our varied topics interest a wide range of our customers. Our next coffee morning takes place on Saturday morning October 7th from 10.30am to 12.30pm in conjunction with national breastfeeding week. Stephanie Marray and Nuria Tasies, who are both midwives in Wexford General Hospital will be here to answer all your questions on the subject. Please come along if you’re interested and pass on the word to anyone you know who might be and why not take a look at our blog where we’ve put together a list of hints, tips and supports for the breastfeeding mother.

Another event worth mentioning is a long time friend of the store – Amber SOS is paying us a visit.  Amber SOS are based in Co Mayo and specialise in importing and promoting the use of real Baltic Amber. You may know about it’s use to help teething babies but read our blog to discover the many other uses of this beautiful natural product. We’ll have Ben from Amber SOS here on the Saturday the 14th of the month so, if you can, be sure to drop by.

Linda O’Grady founder of Sadhana Yoga popped into us instore to let us know that Sadhana Yoga has moved to it’s own Studio! Our Competition

To further support National Breastfeeding Week from 1st to 7th October Only Natural have teamed up with Breastfeeding to offer a free one to one private lactation consultation with an experienced lactation consultant.  The consultation with be done on a one to one basis in the privacy and comfort of your own home. Don’t worry, be happy!

Whether we like it or not, stress is a fact of modern life, whether it’s the ongoing challenge of ‘managing’ life in this increasingly frantic world or coping with individual high stress events as life throws them at us. It is a natural reaction to events, our mind telling us to be alert and ready to navigate life’s difficulties. It only becomes a problem when that state of alertness becomes habitual. When we experience prolonged periods of worry and anxiousness so great that we start to become overwhelmed by them, then all sorts of things can go wrong. Firstly there’s the feeling itself, life’s joy becomes overshadowed by fear and worry and then other areas of life become affected. We don’t sleep well and don’t have the energy to function properly and our immune system brain fog imageand digestion come under pressure leading to sickness. Mental fog and poor or no decision making replace clarity of mind. Long term unresolved stress can lead to depression and isolation, not a pretty picture!
So whether you’re trying to cope with a tough period or event or fighting a longer battle to feel better remember the natural strategies and aids that can help. Destress with Yoga!

Our topic this month is stress – yes something that we all experience in some form or other, some of us on a daily basis whether it’s trying to get everyone out the door and be on time for work or short term stress such as selling a house, losing a job or a relationship breakdown.  We’ve all been there at some point in our lives and it is a natural part of our journey on this earth.  Stress comes in many different forms and so too does coping with it.

It is well known that exercise is good for stress (it releases the feel good endorphins) as well as being in the moment with people being encouraged to practice Mindfulness on a daily basis.  Yoga combines the two so I volunteered to take myself off to a yoga class.

We are fortunate here in Wexford to have numerous, experienced and qualified yoga instructors but recently I have been hearing quite a lot about Linda O’Grady founder of Sadhana Yoga.

Linda is a Yoga and Pilates teacher, Therapist and Wellness Coach, with 18 years’ experience in holistic health (nutrition, herbal medicine, bodywork) and Yoga.  She teaches classical Hatha Yoga using the Vinyasa krama system. read more →
