Just as winter can put more demands on our immune system it can also ask a lot more of our single biggest organ, our skin. Whenever we do training with the team from Dr Hauschka I’m reminded of just how deeply therapeutic and supportive of the skin’s natural functions the Dr Hauschka range really is. So as we really get into winter changing to certain products can really help our skin to thrive and positively glow. So which are those products? Sophie is a skin therapist with Dr Hauschka and this is her take on what you should be using to benefit your skin right now.
Our skin has a fantastic ability to care for itself, responding constantly to changes in your internal and external environments. Although it needs a little help along the way, we need to protect our skin from overexposure to harsh elements and support it when it gets thrown out of balance, i.e. due to a change in season.
Winter is the coldest season of the year, bringing with it wind, rain and sometimes even snow in Ireland. As the cold weather comes upon us it is time to bring warmth back to the system and a time of cocooning and reflecting. Our skin is changing as the seasons change and is in need of warmth, replenishment and ritual time this time of year.
Making the transition to a new season skin care regimen might seem hard but it helps your skin look and feel its best. The steps may remain the same but the products your skin needs can change dramatically in winter.
Top four essential skin care products for winter:
1. Renewing night conditioner:
These are a total boost for the skin with renewing ingredients such as Silver, Madonna Lily and with-hazel delivering a visible change in the skin following one course (28 days). We recommend using ampoules for 28 days, two ampoules each day for the first 3 weeks and 1 ampoule each day for the fourth week. This will help assist in returning the natural rhythm of the skin.
2. Rose Day Cream
Our skin is in need of more preservation this time of year as central heating comes back on and the temperature changes. The Rose Day Cream is a daily moisturiser specially formulated for dry, sensitive and reddened skin. A pea size amount daily is all you require to get the protective properties. Precious extracts of rose petals, wild rose hips and St. Johns Wort balance and tone the skin, while shea butter, rose petal wax and avocado oil protect skin from drying out during these cold months.
3. Sage Purifying Bath Essence:
The ritual of bathing this time of year is so beneficial and you don’t need to have a bath to experience the therapeutic effects of the Dr. Hauschka fragrant world. The Dr. Hauschka bath essences are obtained from freshly harvested leaves, husks, needles and blossoms.
Our body and skin responds to ritual and rhythm, from a footbath or bathing and will take ground and distribute energy through the body. Sage Purifying Bath Essence awakens the senses and refreshes the body, helping to clarify and soothe skin. It is especially beneficial as a refreshing footbath to soothe tired, overworked feet. Sage Purifying Bath Essence also refreshes after sport and physical exercise and has a deodorising effect.
4. Moor Lavender Calming Body Oil:
Applying Moor Lavender Calming Body Oil to the body in upward motions, following the flow of the lymph will bring a deep sense of wellbeing, relaxation and comfort, imparting a sense of deep relaxation. Moor extract has insulating properties while lavender is deeply calming. Making you feel as if someone has wrapped a blanket around you.
Winter months are often busier ones as you are coming to the end of the year and it’s easy to let stress build, stress that shows in your skin. While you are adjusting to your new schedule, don’t forget to adjust your skin care regimen at the same time and to take time out for yourself.
This year’s Dr Hauschka gift sets look amazing and represent wonderful value too so why not offer someone you love the gift of radiant skin too?
