Tomatoes in excess are one of the common causes of internal acidity

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]For the past six months Susanna seemed to have a week-long problem with her throat. It was often very sore low down, and frequently turned into a chest pain, and then seemed to just heal. She had had three lots of antibiotics for it in the last four months. The pain in her throat would usually start by feeling inflamed and raw, then her tonsils and glands would swell, and then she would resort to antibiotics, even though the doctor couldn’t actually see any inflammation. Her energy was not great, and would start to fade in the early evening.

Susanna had what appeared to be a fairly good diet, that was mostly vegetarian. However, she was using tinned tomatoes (along with other vegetables, rice, brown pasta or potatoes and some protein) as a basis for many of her dinners. She also sometimes drank orange juice, which is also very acidic, and microwaved her otherwise excellent breakfast of porridge daily. These three things showed up in the allergy test, and Susanna was asked to avoid them.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Once she had changed her diet she had a cough which took a little while to go, but no longer had any more problems with her inflamed throat and chest pain; and her energy slowly but surely bounced back to normal too.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]There is a world of different between using the odd tomato sometimes in your cooking, and using a tin of them most evenings in your main meal! I had already come across this with someone else who suffered terrible joint pain from eating too many tomato-based foods and oranges:-

Frequent baked beans, tomato soup, fresh tomatoes from the greenhouse, and an orange daily!

His joint pain cleared up once he cut all the tomato based foods and oranges to a minimum.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
