All Seasons’ Complex is the latest addition to the Irish Botanica herbal range of which we’re particularly fond. The range is the brainchild of David Foley, a consultant medical herbalist, trained in both Western and Chinese herbal medicine. He has been involved with herbs for over 30 years. First as a grower and then having been trained at the College of Phytotherapy to become a member of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists, the oldest body of practising herbalists in existence (est. 1864) . He did a post-grad in Chinese Herbal Medicine to become a member of the Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine. He runs a busy practice in both Letterkenny and Derry for the last 20 years as well as a busy health food store for nearly 25 years along with his wife in Letterkenny.
[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]Aimed at the symptoms of rhinitis (irritatation and inflammation of the mucous membrane inside the nose with common symptoms including a stuffy nose, runny nose, sneezing, and post-nasal drip). All Seasons Complex will probably come into its own during next year’s hay fever season but we feel it may be equally helpful for the above symptoms when they present as part of winter ailments including the dreaded and hard to treat sinus infection.
It’s based on Chinese Angelica (nasal decongestant), Astragalus (strengthens and regulates the immune system), Magnolia Flower (aids respiratory health, combats allergies), and Liquorice Root (helps the body to produce healthy mucous and is expectorant). Try it this winter if you’re one of the many people that suffer from sinus infections and rhinitis. We think that David has surely come up with another winning herbal combination.
Great news for all you Dr Hauschka fans out there, Yolanda Johnston is back with the company after a few years’ career break. Many of you have met Yolanda for skincare consultations in Only Natural or will remember her from her appearances on TV3. We get the impression that Yolanda missed Dr. Hauschka and natural skin care so much that she’s only coming back to her true passion.
“Having qualified as a beauty therapist many years ago, I always knew beauty, makeup and skincare were my passion. I love every aspect of it, whether it’s advising customers and friends about looking after their skin or giving them makeovers. I feel I’m your one stop skin consultant, having promoted Dr Hauschka on TV3 and having had the privilege of working with some amazing people.
I worked with Dr Hauschka from 2011 to 2015 where I honed my skills and gained experience while advising customers on a good skin care routine. In 2015 I took a career break as I knew I wanted to do something completely out of my comfort zone and I spent two years working in the area of Internet marketing. This led me to the realization of where my passion truly lies. And that passion is not just beauty it’s Dr Hauschka skin care.”

Doris Potter Massage Therapist, book your free session today
We recently met Doris Potter, a massage therapist who’s just moved to Wexford. Doris is a practitioner of Rhythmical Massage Therapy, a gentle massage therapy based on the anthroposophical teachings of Rudolf Steiner and devised and developed by Dr Ita Wegman a physician and masseuse in Switzerland in the 1920. She and Dr Marguareta Hauschka then worked together for a further 12 years to further develop this form of massage. Doris continues to use the Dr Hauschka body oils as part of her work. It is a remedial form of massage that uses a gentle, rhythmical, breathing quality of touch. It can be beneficial for general wellbeing as well as in treating the following:
Headaches
Sore and stiff muscles
Insomnia
Digestive problems
Back, neck and shoulder problems
Pain relief (can assist with palliative care)
Breathing difficulties and asthma
Circulation problems, feeling too hot or too cold
Elderly, or people convalescing

And lastly but certainly not least…………..
You may have seen our FaceBook post during the month about the fact that the Government has plans to add VAT to the cost of the natural healthcare supplements that we all use to safeguard our health on a daily basis. As it happened no announcement was made in the budget as we feared might be the case but, believe me, the issue has not gone away!
These supplements (except for those with indications for beauty and body building purposes) have been VAT exempt for the last 40 years they’ve been on the Irish market. We in Health Stores Ireland feel that it would only be just if that were to stay the case. Why should a Government that purports to be supportive of community and preventative healthcare now turn around and slap a tax on products that over 50% of Irish people use for exactly that, the maintenance of good health and the prevention of disease and pain. Do you want to see VAT put onto Baby Vitamin D drops, the Magnesium powder you use to help you get a good night’s sleep, the Glucosamine tablets that help to keep your father mobile? We think it would be a crime to tax the whole gamut of natural health supplements and, in the process, make them unaffordable for some.
Instead we in Health Stores Ireland would like to see them retain their zero VAT status but that can only happen by enshrining a statement to the effect in law. If you agree with us on this we need you to let your elected representatives in EVERY PARTY know how you feel as soon as possible. Contact details are as follows:
