We love to bring you extra value and don’t think that you’re averse to it either, so we’ve cleared some space to bring you our new Special Offers area. From now on we’ll have a broader range of specials on both established and loved products and new ones that you might like to try at an introductory discount. So if you’re a value hunter don’t miss out, they’ll be piled high just past the bulk dispensers on the way in.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Sea Vegetables, a neglected tradition we think it’s about time to revive

Kim recently attended a seaweed foraging and cookery day given by Marie Power, seaweed enthusiast and author of ‘The Sea Garden’ a wonderful introduction to the subject. Marie decided in recent years to follow her interest in nature and now runs workshops on a regular basis, introducing people to seaweed and wild food foraging and cookery, the wider ecological web on the rocky shore and sustainable ways to forage. She has been one of the main drivers to reinvigorate the Irish tradition of harvesting and cooking with sea vegetables (perhaps a kinder name for these amazing, nutrient rich plants!).[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”13585″ img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline” border_color=”green”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]She also produces her own range of dried seaweed products which we’re delighted to be selling now. They include the dried plants themselves, seasoning mixes for savoury and sweet dishes, for setting and thickening as well as for smoothies, delicious seaweed enriched snack bars and green tea with cinnamon and seaweed. Inspired by Marie’s enthusiasm I decided to try Marie’s Carrot and Sleabhcán cake from her book. Check out the recipe if you feel inclined (and I do recommend it!).[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

VetSpec for Dogs

Over the years we continually have customers in looking for certain supplements to help their furry friends!! Whether it be a family pet or a farm yard animal, it’s amazing to see the lengths people will go to ensure their four-legged companions are in tip top shape.  The majority of us are pet owners too and know good nutrition is not just important for human health![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]The opportunity arose for us to stock VetSpec for Dogs premium dog food admittedly we were a bit hesitant because a premium brand can come with a premium price but the more we learnt about this range of dog food it became a no-brainer really.  The main difference and (it’s main selling point) are the ingredients used – no grain/cereal and 60% meat content!  Plus they do specialised formulations with added supplements such as their Calm and Focused Formula, Omega 3 Joint Mobility and Super Lite Low Calorie Formula.

And although this brand of dog food may be more expensive than your usual brand the portion sizes of this nutrient, protein dense food is a lot less so it may not work out being anymore expensive.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_empty_space height=”16px”][vc_single_image image=”13560″ img_size=”full” style=”vc_box_outline” border_color=”green”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Shirley Jones the Feed Advisor for VetSpec has gone into the benefits of their Calm and Focused Formula and what type of dog it might suit:
