Recently Mick started a Zazen meditation group and they meet in Wexford town on Sunday mornings. The benefits of meditation are well known and include stress relief, a clearer mind and a happier soul, better emotional health and more kindness. Here’s a little background that Mick shared with us. Could Zen Meditation be for you or someone you know?[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]

Zen Meditation

My name is Mick Kinsella and I have been a practitioner of Zen Meditation (Zazen) for 10 years now.  The translation of Zazen from Japanese to English means ‘seated meditation’.
The main emphasis of the meditation practise is on posture and the breath.  In Zazen practice we begin to know ourselves and to go beyond the limits of our ego.  We are open to everyone interested in learning about meditation.
I started under the tutelage of Alain Lieberman a Zen monk ordained in the Deshimaru lineage.  Deshimaru was one of the first Japanese monks to introduce Zen Meditation to Europe, starting a Sangha in Paris, France.

In Ireland at present, there is three Zen Dojo’s dedicated to the lineage of Deshimaru in Cork, Galway and Dublin.
Zazen practice has recently started  in Wexford on Sunday mornings from 9.45am to 11.30am in The Creative Hub, Mallin Street, Wexford Town.
